Storytelling & Communications Lead

This person will build on the solid foundation of the ART X brand, to tell dynamic stories about our community of creatives, and engage vast audiences both locally and internationally.

Our Storytelling Lead will work across varied media, running high impact campaigns, to cement the reputation of ART X Lagos and its sister platforms as global and committed to the very best in Africa. A creative by nature, this person must also live and breathe efficiency, as they will be instrumental in leading the development and delivery of our marketing and communications strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the marketing, communication and audience development activities of ART X, from strategic and creative development through to execution
  • Create narrative and branded assets for multiple channels, including websites, social media, videos/short films, email campaigns, blog articles, visuals, graphic assets and more
  • Co-custodian of the brand, ensuring that every expression of its identity, internally or by third parties, is in alignment with the vision
  • Nurture strong relationships with local and international media; expand media partnerships
  • Collaborate with sponsors, partner galleries and artists, aligning marketing strategies to maximise the opportunities around ART X
  • Support the Founder in her capacity as the company’s principal spokesperson, proactively seeking new spaces to share the ART X vision.
About You

The ideal candidate is extremely creative, efficient and organised, possesses exceptional
communication skills and will bring enthusiasm to the role. The ability to multitask, work calmly
under pressure and be a strong team player is also vital. Other key requirements include:

  • At least 7+ years of experience working in PR/ Communications/ Marketing in the culture/ creative/ visual arts sector, preferably with international brands
  • A track record of successful campaign planning and delivery at a strategic level
  • Excellent knowledge of the visual arts and culture, with an awareness of current trends
  • Ambidextrous, with significant breadth to engage vastly varied audiences, from ultra high net worth individuals to Gen-Z
  • Extremely organised with strong project management and administration skills – able to manage your time well and comfortable working to tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills – a team builder and player with a confident, friendly approach engaging vastly different people and organisations
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Excellent negotiation and advocacy skills
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Office / Google Docs, and Mac OS X
Role Specifications

This person will work remotely and will be engaged on a part-time basis (preferably from a location compatible with GMT and WAT time zones), with the flexibility to travel to Lagos during key periods, with stays for 2 – 3 months.
